Best Contemporary Interior Design Simple to Duplicate and Recognize
Contemporary, or modern design as it is sometimes called, is one of the most easily identifiable forms of interior design. The basic crisp shapes, contrasting colors, clean lines and clear spaces typically personify the contemporary design concept, with different elements added in randomly. Modern design is not like country, which can be interpreted as rustic by some, or too frilly by others. The modern concept is a much more narrowly defined idea in design.
The television has played a major role in the way we have decorated the rooms they are in since the first one was ever brought home. They were once created to look like pieces of furniture, and then a whole industry of armoire makers began designing deep cabinets to hold large televisions in an attractive way. Now, flat screens, LCD, HD, and plasma screens have completely dominated the television landscape and the furniture and accompanying design styles have changed right along with them. Flat screen televisions are perfect additions to a home theater or family room designed in a contemporary fashion. These televisions may be mounted on the wall like a sleek piece of art, or placed on top of a glass, metal or wood stand.
The colors in a modern design can vary from the typical black and white to greys, reds, or whatever color you choose. The important part is that there not be any chaos or pattern or over done stripes to coordinate with a contemporary color palate. It is also a typical aspect in modern design to create sharp contrasts in the colors, so if you use a light color on the wall, a dark dramatically contrasting color on the sofa will show up well.
The textures applied to a room in decorated in a contemporary style will usually run to the sleek leather and suede for sofas, linens, and crisp silks for windows and natural fibers for rugs and carpets. Floors are typically hardwood or tile.
Glass is another highly used element in the modern style of design. It is often used for the clean appearance it gives to shelves and tables. It is often frequently used in framed mirrors that are commonly found in this style as well. Metal is another heavy, solid, but clean and crisp element frequently used in contemporary rooms. Metal tables with glass tops and big metal frames on pictures are very common.
The modern or contemporary style is one of the easiest themes to both identify and implement in a home's design scheme. The simple blending of technology and comfort, ease of use and clean crisp lines with easily definable colors and shapes all create a modern vibe.
